The Cohort 2024 is Twin Cities dance company Rhythmically Speaking’s 16th annual Summer production, and the 6th of the Cohort format, which was built to support and share four different perspectives on and via the vibrancy of jazz and American social dance ideas. This year’s cohort features new works by local artists Erinn Liebhard (RS Artistic & Executive Director), Jake Nehrbass (RS Company Dancer) and revisited works by visiting artists Eboné Amos (Clarksville, TN) and Maurice Watson (Greensboro, NC) – all danced by RS’ company of excellent local dancers.

Jake Nehrbass has created a funk-inspired tap/jazz piece titled Sonic Leather, and Erinn Liebhard has created a new work entitled Follow My Lead that explores the personal and cultural ideas embedded within historical dance step instructional diagrams. Eboné Amos has revisited her work Welcome to Soulsville, which celebrates the music, dances, and soul stirrers of the 1950s and 1960s, and Maurice Watson has restaged his work Chasing the (1) = One, which explores individuality and artistic expression in one’s social community.
