Offstage: Handel’s Rinaldo Reverence, Mysticism, and Tradition

November 2, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

MN Opera Offstage series at the socially missioned Metronome Brewery in Lowertown St. Paul is back! Join us for beer, music, and a conversation exploring Reverence, Mysticism and traditions of the western canon. This event also celebrates MNOPERA kicking off our first performance in the Luminary Arts Center.

Musical, artistic, and religious expression have been linked to our search for meaning and community since the beginning of time. In Handel’s Rinaldo, the text explores reverence, mysticism, and tradition in ways that seemingly promote conflict and division across religious and cultural lines. Producing Rinaldo presents an opportunity to explore how art, religious diversity, and creativity build common ground. Join us for a thought-provoking panel moderated by MNOPERA’s VP of Impact, Lee Bynum. Panelists include music historians and religious scholars from the United Theological Seminary and Rinaldo’s director Mo Zhou. Stick around after the conversation and enjoy another beer with some exclusive performances by members from the cast!

This event is appropriate for all ages. This is a first-floor facility with accessibility ramps at entrances.

Masks suggested, but not required. For more information, visit MN Opera’s Health and Safety page.

There will be on street parking options available on 5th St. E, The Famers Market, and on Broadway. The entrance to the brewery can be found via the Broadway St. Before arriving, please download the St. Paul Passport Parking app, so you don’t get a parking ticket!
