With elections occurring in over 50 countries encompassing over half the world’s population, 2024 is being called the year of elections. How are global political contests being covered in today’s fractured international media landscape?

Join Global Minnesota for a compelling discussion hosted by the University of St. Thomas’ Department of Emerging Media and the World Press Institute featuring some of the 2024 WPI international journalists. These media professionals from Brazil, Bulgaria, Finland, India, Italy, Kosovo, Nigeria, Peru, South Africa, and Ukraine will share their experiences covering elections in their home countries. The panel will also explore the critical role of the media during tense electoral periods and how they navigate political pressures and ethical challenges encountered while reporting on elections worldwide.
