WHAT: Celebrate Arbor Day at Lakewood Cemetery
Join Lakewood, on Sunday, April 30, as we honor our roots as a Garden Cemetery and celebrate trees at our first “Sundays at Lakewood” event of the year! This free, outdoor event is open to all and will include activities and offerings for the whole family to celebrate Lakewood being officially accredited as a Level 2 Arboretum. (Only the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, a Level 4, ranks higher in our state.)
Trees play an important role at Lakewood and throughout the world cleaning the air we breathe, filtering the water we drink, and providing shade and comfort to the whole community. Lakewood is known for its beautiful tree canopy, from our historic oaks to our autumn blaze maples and everything in between. To celebrate Lakewood’s past and future commitment to caring for our beautiful trees, everyone is invited to Lakewood’s Arbor Day celebration. No registration is needed for this free, open-house style event.
Activities:
• Tie a ribbon to our Living Memory Tree
• Discover the trees of Lakewood on a guided tree tour with naturalist and author, Matt Schuth or explore the grounds using our self-guided walking tour brochure (PDF)
