The Winterers’ Gathering & Arctic Film Festival celebrates the crafts, customs, history, and stories that have been inspired by winter. Featuring winter-centric coursework, a winter tent camp, gear sale, film festival, speakers, and more, this is a classic event to welcome the start of the chilliest season.

The 2024 Winterers’ Gathering will welcome special guest instructor Niilá Omma to teach a knifemaking course. Niilá is duojár, a traditional Sámi craftsman, from Skelefteå, Sweden. He uses mainly reindeer antler and birch to make knives, cups, boxes, jewelry and other traditional items, and sells his work in Sweden and internationally. This is his first visit to North House Folk School.

The town of Snake Hollow and honored guests from far and wide have gathered at Hemlock Manor on the night of the full moon to help celebrate the wedding of Esmeray Randall and Zev Taylor

UNTIL…

the creature struck again.

The father of the bride insists things proceed as planned. Nothing should keep the lovebirds apart. The maid of honor demands a hunt! No vows until the creature is caught.

It’s time to discover WHAT creeps about in the shadow of the woods. For months so many little signs and disturbances trying to tear these two apart or so someone would have you believe. But why? There have long been stories of a werewolf, the broken-hearted cursed to howl at the moon alone. Or Is it all a ruse to conceal a greater crime?

Wedding guests, friends and family, and faithful residents of Snake Hollow are all here. They have keen insight into each little happening, the secrets that certain people think they’ve hidden, and why a wolf(?) has any interest in a wedding. The creature can’t hide forever, now that everyone is talking, everyone is snooping, its identity and motive will soon be revealed!

This is a controlled improvisation theatrical production. Each cast member has several facts that guide visitors to the mystery’s solution. Visitors can collect these facts by asking thoughtful questions of the characters and separating the pertinent from the superfluous information. Generally, only the culprit can lie, however, all characters may be evasive.

Visitors are given a candle lantern to explore the site and question suspects. Dress for the weather and come armed with an umbrella.
