Celebrate Junior Ranger Day! We are celebrating early this year! Join us at the Mississippi River Visitor Center for activities on 4/15/23!
Join us for fun family activities! You can earn certificates, badges, or even a patch!

1. Try our Riddle Challenge
2. Tune in to our local trees on a Family
This self-guided activity is designed to help young people identify up to five specific tree types that can be found in your neighborhood. It takes about an hour and is designed for families with kids in grades 4-6, but anyone can join the fun and learn something new!
– Pick up a field guide from a park ranger at the Mississippi River Visitor Center, located inside the Science Museum of Minnesota. Once you receive your field guide, feel free to experience the program at your own pace until the visitor center closes (8 PM on Saturday).
-Walk to the nearby Upper Landing Park to find up to five tree species while engaging in fun field guide
3. Make a screen print of the trees you meet on the walk
Stop by the table just inside the Mississippi River Visitor Center to make your very own screen print to commemorate the day! (10 AM – 3 PM only.) *Please note: Silkscreening is a messy activity, and screens can become clogged, impacting print quality. An alternate activity may be provided if issues with silkscreens occur.
4. Complete one of our junior ranger booklets
Do one activity to earn a certificate and a badge. Complete three activities to earn a highly coveted Junior Ranger patch (while supplies last)! All junior rangers who complete at least one activity will also receive a commemorative button and a color-your-own junior ranger paper hat!
