Early music ensemble Sospiri will present a volatile concert of vocal and instrumental chamber music on the theme of ‘madness!’
Folly, craziness, madness — we have recognized the power of these altered mental states through the ages. In the renaissance and baroque eras, it was a call for some of the most lively and temperamental inventions in music. From folias set to repeating bass lines, to tarantellas that could supposedly cure insanity brought on by a spider bite, to mad songs and rage scenes — Sospiri will explore the gamut of madness in music.
