Opening Night Reception: The Streets, In-Between Moments, Yankee Enduro

An opening night reception celebrates the debut of three new exhibitions at Praxis Gallery & Photographic Arts Center in the Seward neighborhood of Minneapolis. The event is free and open to the public. Guests are invited to mingle with artists and fellow photography enthusiasts while exploring three galleries of contemporary photographic art and enjoying complimentary refreshments. Two juried group shows and a solo exhibition will be on display. The exhibitions will be on display through Saturday, September 2, 2023.

In its original gallery, Praxis presents photographic art that explores the genre of street photography from all angles, including people, urban structure, and documentary subject matter.

IN-BETWEEN MOMENTS curated by Praxis Directors
In the Directors’ Gallery, Praxis presents photographic art that explores the in-between moments of life and endeavors to notice the unnoticeable, the mundane, the banal and anti-climactic. “In giving value to the ordinary we, in turn, begin to value the space of our own identity and everyday ‘normal’ experience that lies outside of commodified and predefined trajectories of trauma exploitation.”

YANKEE ENDURO a solo exhibition of new works by G. S. Broz
In the Lab Gallery, Praxis presents selections from G.S. Broz’s newest body of work which examines the twilight of the American trucking industry. The artist became a long-haul trucker expressly to examine the subject photographically. In addition to capturing big rigs in their natural habitat, Yankee Enduro explores the intersection of solitude and isolation experienced by the jockeys that command these beasts. All images were shot on square, medium-format film in 2019 and 2020.
