The National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP) is a lifestyle change program designed for people with pre-diabetes. It is based on the CDC’s curriculum and the NDPP’s standards.
Among people 65 years and older, 23.1 million have pre-diabetes. Research has proven that this program cuts the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes by 71%. Participants will learn how to make lasting lifestyle changes, such as eating healthier, adding physical activity into daily routines, and improving coping skills.
This is a year-long program that meets weekly for 16 weeks, and then monthly for the remainder of the year. Each session is one hour in length. The class is a combination of presentations, discussion, and activities with others who have similar experiences.
