It’s not good news, particularly if you want to provide food for your family. The proposed bill may not be perfect but it is acceptable for small businesses that aren’t looking to stay in business for long-term. The industry should expect a more favorable negotiation in the next round.

CBO provides a budgetary estimation of the economic impact that a minimum $10 as a minimum would have on the economy. It’s not pretty. Although it isn’t a complete overhaul, there are some interesting points. There’s a higher minimum wage price and an increased tax bill for those employers that can’t pay it. As of now, the CBO hasn’t determined whether or not it will be a one-off or a permanent policy, but it is a good bet that we’ll be hearing a lot more about this over the next couple of years.
